Bryony Rose
I am a self taught artist born in Buckinghamshire, England in 1984, I work primarily as a painter with Oils and Watercolours, creating Feminine centred artworks.
My work is born from my life-long journey with bodily acceptance and mental and physical chronic illness which led me down a deep path of self healing. While on this path, I explored various spiritual practices and the visions for my paintings began to emerge, often from time spent in meditation, the liminal space between sleep and waking, movement practices or inner journeys. With these visions and improvements in my health, I realised the final hurdle in my healing was to begin following my soul's yearning to create and be an Artist.
In my current work, I blend themes of the Feminine with the essence of the Spiritual and Esoteric., using bold colours, patterns and symbols to depict the Vulva or ‘Yoni’ inspired shapes and feminine forms; to portray them not merely as a sexual organ or body, but also as a sacred portal of life-death-rebirth, connected to something divine, beyond the physical. I seek to bring awareness of these realities to the viewers' conscience, evoking a sense of oneness and connection to something beyond our physical reality; a Primal resonance.
I create pieces in celebration of Women; to inspire them to recognise their power, uniqueness and beauty, to see themselves as living art and connect with their roots as Divine beings. I also hope to foster a remembrance that Women are to be honoured and revered; a remembrance that we all come from the wellspring of a Mother Womb and also beyond that from the Universal Void/Womb; the all connecting Source. It is my hope that this remembering and connection will help bring the inequality of our culture back to balance.
